The modern world owes almost everything to the Greeks. For the first time, they have defined our thoughts of thought, have shaped our main spiritual tools, and have given specific content to our moral principles. More generally, they discovered scientific research by formulating the first questions and tried to answer them successfully with a satisfactory degree. They lifted all the forms of art so that all its modern trends flow from Greek art.
In the common heritage, which thinkers and artists made to bear fruit for 15 centuries with different results, no one disputes the primary role played by Hellenism.
That is why our contemporaries feel very interested in a people whose culture we owe so much. This interest can be fully satisfied, since the sources that reveal to us Ancient Greece are particularly rich and varied.
